The College World Series Contest Returns

No, not here. Go check out my buddy Zach's blog, Autographed Cards, for all the contest details. This is the fifth year he is holding the contest and I was lucky enough to win it once and I came in second or third another year. And trust me, I know very little about college baseball, so if I have a chance to win, so do you!

Good luck to anyone that enters!

Check Out the Contest at Autographed Cards

Hey, look at me, a second post in June. Wow, I'm really rolling now! This will be a short post, but I suppose that's still better than no post at all.

Anyway, my buddy Zach, who writes the excellent blog, Autographed Cards, is holding his annual College World Series contest. Now, if you haven't already entered, you missed the preliminary round and the chance to get some bonus points. But, not to worry, I missed out on that as well, and everyone still has a chance to win, so head on over there and give it a shot.

Zach has given away some excellent prizes over the years, such as this autographed card of (now-deceased) Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew, that I won three or four years back.

Good luck everyone!

Check Out Autographed Cards' College World Series Contest!

Zach over at Autographed Cards is holding his third annual College World Series Contest. Go check it out; it's easy to enter and it just takes a bit of luck to win, something that I've been fortunate enough to do the past two years and I hope to be in the mix again this season.

He has given away some really great prizes over the years, like this Harmon Killebrew autograph that I scored in, I believe, the first year of the contest.

Good luck to everyone who enters!

Thank You for the Trades

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the fellow bloggers and collectors that I've completed trades with over the past month. Since many of the cards sent my way were from my set needs list, I pretty much filed them away before thinking to scan them, so I don't have any pictures to show today. But I want to make sure that all of you know that I appreciate all the great Orioles cards and set needs that have been sent my way.

Off the top of my head, thanks to Greg at Night Owl Cards, Ryan at '"O" No!!! Another Orioles Blog, Zach at Autographed Cards, Paul at Paul's Random Baseball Stuff,  Chris at Nachos Grande,  Ted at Crinkly Wrappers, and Jason at http://thewritersjourney.wordpress.com/. Sorry if I'm forgetting anyone, but thanks again for all the trades!

Contest Winnings

About two months ago, I finished in second place in Zach's 2nd Annual College World Series contest. He sent out the winnings probably five weeks ago and I finally got around to scanning them over the weekend.

The guy who won the contest got the first pick and then we bounced back and forth to select our winnings from his prize pool.

I was very happy to add another HOF auto to my collection

This is a pretty sweet collector's coin commemorating the CWS' first year at TD Ameritrade Park

Zach somehow came across a pack of Japanese cards that I was very excited to rip.
I don't recognize any of these guys but it's still cool to open up a foreign pack of cards.

Next up was a lot of Royals player post cards; the Maury Wills auto was my next pick

Zach was nice enough to throw in a few extra cards of Zach Britton and an autograph of current Royal, Johnny Giavotella.

As you can see, Zach is very generous with his prizes, so make sure you check out his blog, Autographed Cards, so that you don't miss out on his next contest.

A Great Contest over at Autographed Cards

One of my favorite blogs is holding an awesome contest this week; Zach who is the man behind Autographed Cards is holding his College World Series pick 'em contest again this year. I really enjoyed the contest last year and was lucky enough to win it too!

This is one of the cards I won last year, and it's become even more special to me since Harmon passed away a few weeks ago.

You have the chance to win some really great cards, so I suggest you get in on Zach's contest before Friday. Good luck everyone!

Jamie Quirk Joins the Collection, Thanks to Zman

Zach aka zman40, who writes the blog Autographed Cards, surprised me by getting Jamie Quirk's autograph for me at the Royals' Fan Fest just over a week ago. And not only did he get this card signed, but he had Jamie personalize the card to me too. That part really blew me away. I always prefer that my autographs are personalized because it makes them mean a little bit more to me, and the fact that Zach knew that and had Jamie do it without my asking is amazing. Zach had tried to get Jamie's Crown card signed for me last year, but it didn't work out. This year he did it on his own and I can't thank him enough for helping me to scratch another player off of my list. He has one of the best blogs out there and he has so many autographed cards to show off that you never know what you might see next.

He was also nice enough to send me some Bowman Orioles cards. The Manny Machado card is definitely my favorite of the bunch. I'm hoping that he turns out to be the real deal.

Thanks for everything Zach!

A (Very) Delayed Thank You to Zach

Zach, who writes the amazing Autographed Cards blog, held a College World Series contest at the end of June.  I haven't had luck with winning contests around the blogosphere but I was finally able to win one thanks to my random selection of the winning teams.  I don't think I did a great job but I was able to edge out the competition.

It's only taken me about 2 months to get around to thanking him for the awesome cards and autographs he sent me, but hey, better late than never.

I love autographs of Hall of Famers and this is my first one of Harmon.

Augie is the legendary Texas Longhorns baseball head coach who has the most wins in NCAA history.

The cards marked R are also mine, and the Jim Rice autograph is an 8x10.  You'd think I could have found time to get these scanned within two months, but no.

I sent Zach a couple cards of Mario's since he is playing somewhere in the Midwest.  Zach was nice enough to send this one back to me for my orange uni collection.

Thanks for everything Zach!  If you've never checked out his blog, head over there right now!  He features a new autographed card every day and he always has some interesting information on how he got the autograph.

Tradin' Bobbles

Way back in mid-July, I worked out bobblehead trades with two fellow bloggers.  I normally end up with extras of most of the Orioles SGA bobbleheads, so I always like to trade them for bobbles that I don't have.  These trades are awesome because they let me add some amazing non Orioles bobbles to my collection.

First up, I worked out another trade with one of my best blogging trade partners, Zach from the awesome Autographed Cards blog.  He sent me a Zack Greinke and a Dan Quisenberry bobblehead in return for a Cal 2131 bobble and a Frank Howard Washington Senators/Nationals bobble.  The Royals really do a nice job with their bobbleheads, and I specifically like the information they include around the bottom of the bobbleheads.

This Greinke bobblehead was given away on April 24th of this season in recognition of Zack's 2009 A.L. Cy Young Award.

This Dan Quisenberry bobble was given away on 7/26/08 in the Royals' HOF series.  I really like his fireman's hat (for being the "Fireman of the Year") and I've always been a fan of his since he was a sidewinding pitcher. Dan died at the young age of 45 after succumbing to brain cancer in 1998.

The second bobblehead trade went down with Josh from the excellent Dodgerbobble blog.  Josh is all about bobbleheads, which is very cool with me.  I sent him a Cal 1983 WS bobblehead and got this awesome Vlad Silver Slugger bobblehead in return.  It was given away in 2006 to commemorate Vlad's 2005 Silver Slugger.

I've been a fan of Vlad since I saw him play for the AA Harrisburg Senators back in the mid '90s.  I also have a Senators Vlad bobble and was very happy to add another one to my collection.  I really like the excessive pine tar on his helmet and his lack of batting gloves.  They are both unique touches that show that the Angels crafted a very accurate Vladdy.  Josh managed to blog about our trade back in mid-July when it happened, sorry I'm so late to the party man, but it's better late than never right?

Thanks for the trades guys!  I'm always happy to add bobbles to my collection, so if anyone reading this has any to trade, let me know and we can try to work something out!
