As the 2010 edition of the Orioles continues to play like a Little League team, I decided that today would be a good time to showcase this card, something that I have been putting off for some time. Let's get all of the negativity out at once!
Tony was a right fielder on the '96 and '97 Orioles teams that were actually good, if not bordering on great. It's not that I have anything against him per se, but just thinking about him in an O's uniform brings back some difficult memories of some fan-interfering punk in a Yankees hat. I think that you all know who I mean, and I know it's been 13 years so you think that I would be over it by now, but I'm not. The Orioles have yet to have a winning season since that incident in the 1997 ALCS, and if I could get my hands on that little jerk today, I would love to use him either as a punching bag or a toilet seat. Yes, I am a bitter Orioles fan today. Hopefully, it will blow over by tomorrow, but if it does, it seems unlikely that it will be due to an on-field improvement by the Birds.
Tony is currently the hitting coach for the Hagerstown Suns, the Nationals lo-A affiliate located in Western Maryland. Friend of the blog, Pol, was able to get Tony to sign and personalize the card at a Suns game last season, which was extremely nice of him. Thanks so much Pol!
C'mon O's! Get your heads in the game, we are tired of watching you lose!

I am pretty sure the Jeffery Maier incident was in the 96 ALCS. But I agree that it was a bad call. I looked on wikipedia and Jeffery was born in 1984. I would have to see him to know if he could still be used as a punching bag - smile.
